A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. This document explains which cookies the werea site uses, why, and how to change your preference.

How consent works

A cookie screen appears on your first visit. Apart from strictly necessary cookies, nothing runs until you consent; no option is pre-ticked, and refusing is as easy as accepting. Once you decide, your preference is stored in your browser and recorded as proof.

Categories

1. Strictly necessary (always on)

Required for the site's core functions, security and session handling. These cannot be switched off.

• Cookie preference record — holds the categories you consented to and the policy version. Lifetime: 1 year.
• Visitor identifier — a randomly generated id so you can change your consent later; it does not identify you. Lifetime: 1 year.
• Administrator session cookie — created only for people signing into the admin panel. Lifetime: the session.

2. Functional (consent-based)

Remembers your language and theme preferences and allows third-party embedded content to load. With these disabled the site still works; it simply does not remember your earlier choices.

• Embedded map — the map on the contact page loads on its own only if you allowed this category. Without consent you see our own drawing and a button instead; until you press it, no request reaches the map provider.

3. Analytics (consent-based)

Lets us measure the site's performance and improve the visitor experience. The data is assessed in aggregate and anonymously; it is not used to identify you.

• Pages visited, time spent on a page, device and browser type, where you arrived from
• Analytics tools are loaded only if you allowed this category; without consent the code never runs at all.

4. Marketing (consent-based)

Helps us present content and campaigns relevant to your interests. Turning this category off does not stop you seeing advertising; it only means what you see is not personalised.

Changing your preference

You can change your decision at any time. Use the cookie settings link in the site footer to reopen the screen, or clear cookies from your browser settings. Clearing cookies also removes the preference record, so the screen appears again on your next visit.

If our purposes of processing change materially, the policy version is incremented; earlier consents are then treated as invalid and the screen is shown to everyone again.

What the consent record holds

To be able to demonstrate your consent we store: the random visitor identifier, the categories you selected, how the decision was made (accept all, reject all or a custom selection), the policy version, and your IP address and browser information at that moment. These records are kept for 1 year.
