The challenge
The twenty-year-old AS/400 COBOL system running the company's entire core operation could not exchange data directly with modern web services or AI systems.
Our approach and integration
Rather than replace the old system we built an event-driven layer on top of it. Change data capture on the AS/400 DB2 database feeds Apache Kafka pipelines, and a Python/Go middle layer converts the legacy records into the JSON and vector formats live models can read.
